Dell Raises The Tablet PC Bar with the XT2 Line

It's tough not to appreciate the tablet pc- after all, few devices if any better bridge the gap between the touchscreen PDA and the laptop.

Modern models, like the Dell Latitude XT2 Tablet redefine what is possible at just an inch thick, an ultra small power supply, and plenty of flexible options.

In tablet mode a multi-touch screen offers exceptional efficiency and fingertip ease as well as utilize the battery-free pen to write or draw as if it were a piece of paper. In laptop mode, users still have the luxury of touch, but with the comfort of a full-sized keyboard with dual-pointing track stick and buttons and best of all, optical drives or additional ports are entirely compatible thanks to the optional media base.

Google Dives into the Web Television Market
Filed in archive Announcements by Jason Giacchino on March 19, 2010
Google Dives into the Web Television Market

The concept of web television isn't a new one- in fact it's been a pretty popular topic of late. The latest word coming from Google is that a partnership with Sony and Intel is on the horizon in effort to bring its Android operating system into the living room.

The ambitious collaboration aims to develop new technology to make navigating Web-based content, like Facebook and Twitter's social networks and Picasa's photo site, on TV more user friendly.

Google plans to supply viewers with supplemental content from the Web and, in the process, gain additional revenue through their Google TV (its new TV ad-brokering business).

Sure there are select televisions and set-top boxes that already offer access to online content, but the choice of web sites that can be accessed has been limited thus far.

The three companies have also linked up with Logitech to have them supply peripheral devices, such as wireless keyboards and remote controls, which will work with the systems.

Sprint's First 4G Phone Coming Next Week

Sprint's First 4G Phone Coming Next Week

Sprint is set to unveil the HTC Supersonic, the first handset compatible with its fourth-generation data network (4G).

The device is rumored to run on Sprint's new WiMax network for faster connection speeds (up to 10 times faster than current networks) which the struggling company hopes will turn its poor sales stats around.

To date, Sprint only offers WiMax in only a few dozen cities (Atlanta, Baltimore, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Las Vegas, Philadelphia, Portland and Seattle for example) But the company plans to expand service to many more locations including Boston, Houston, New York, San Francisco and Washington, D.C. within this year.

FCC Finally Unveils its Wireless Plan

FCC Finally Unveils its Wireless Plan

It wouldn't surprise you to know that mobile devices are very, very popular, would it? How about if I went on to say that the market is expected to continue to grow in leaps in bounds with no predicted end in sight? Well the FCC realizes this too and has been sent scrambling to figure out how to accommodate this sudden burst of airwave demand.

Much to the dismay of many, federal regulators unveiled a sweeping plan to devote more airwaves to the anticipated explosion of mobile devices. This is the precursor to an inevitable battle when lawmakers are asked to help turn parts of the unused broadcast spectrum over to wireless companies.

In a nutshell the proposal wants to persuade broadcasters (including NBC, Fox, ABC and CBS) to give up airwaves for wireless use. In return, it will seek permission from Congress to auction off the spectrum to pay the television stations.

The deal may not appeal to broadcasters unless they are offered very large cuts of the proceeds; a move expected to spark a public outcry since wireless auction payments typically go to the U.S. Treasury.

The situation is pretty serious considering carriers like AT&T and Verizon, are under extreme pressure to increase their network capacity due to surging demand for wireless broadband.

Social Network Whrrl Version 3 Comes to iPhone

Social Network Whrrl Version 3 Comes to iPhone

Imagine an iPhone app built on the powerful idea of Societies — groups of people with similar real-world patterns, one in which people with shared passions can finally exchange their recommendations and experiences, knowing they'll always be at their fingertips based on their location.

Well imagine no longer as Pelago has announced the launch of their latest incarnation iPhone application, Whrrl 3. With it, users can check in, share their experiences, and invite others to join in their societies.

What's a society you ask? Well it's any gathering of like-minded individuals. Some examples include Junk Food Fans, Jimmy Hendrix Devotees, Indie Music Aficionados, Night Owls and Pinball Wizards, to mention a few.

Not unlike popular social networks Facebook and Twitter, users will have total control over their privacy level, from completely private to public and of course the ability to share directly to Facebook or Twitter.
