Wireless USB Display Adapter?

I knew they were working on wireless high-def connections, but I didn't think we'd see a wireless display adapter for PCs anytime soon.
Jeff Goldman over at Creative Weblogging's The Wireless Weblog has uncovered a new Wireless USB Display Adapater that is set to be shown off at the 2008 CES show. It's a reference design that DisplayLink and Alereon have announced. Real products based off this product are expected to cost $150 to $250 USD. Hit the link for more news coverage and the press release.
I can see some applications where this might be useful, but I wonder how well it will actually work. Video requires a constant, predictable stream of data to work the way you'd want it to. I suppose we'll hear about the demos at CES, but I'll believe it when I see it for myself in a shipping product. I also wonder about WiFi interference, which is already a problem where I live. What do you think?

I think it would be useful – I’d like displays in the kitchen, for instance, to look up recipes. And I’d like a slideshow in the family room. This would all work with wireless displays tied into a single server. I wouldn’t have to buy more computers and sprinkle them around.
I would, however, have to buy more wireless keyboards and mice…
Turns your home PC into a mainframe server, sort of…
