Wireless Charging Around the Corner?
I'll happily admit it: I hate running wires almost as much as I hate running low on batteries. If there was a way to make every gadget and appliance I owned wireless, I would gladly make the trade in, do the installation, etc. Of course, there isn't a way to do so yet, but according to this article in Nikkei Electronics Asia, three technologies that would allow the jump (so to speak) to happen are just around the corner. The most powerful one is Electromagnetic resonance, which allows the transfer of several kilowatts over ten or eleven feet, allowing for the creation of power-generating strips in ceilings or floors that would power a whole host of devices without wires. Electromagnetic resonance could also be used in roads to power cars or factories to supply electricity to robots.
