Will Wii Have a Camera?

IGN thinks they've found a hidden camera in the innovative Nintendo Wii remote. As reported by Portable Planet, IGN got a copy of the official Wii manual and discovered that a sensor in the Wii remote that can scan coordinates, potentially creating an image map of about a megapixel. The manual doesn't say anything else, but IGN theorizes the scanner could be used as a camera. Of course, as SPOnG points out, just because the remote scans doesn't mean it can interpret visual information – and from my understanding of how the new Wii controllers are supposed to work, having a tracking sensor in the remote is probably part of its core functionality. Of course, throw in a firmware update and you might have a small camera on your hands…
