WildCharger: Another Version of a Good Thing?
Oh dear God, I smell a standards war in the making. The picture you see to your left is of the WildCharger, a wireless gadget charger that works via a pad an adapter. Plug the adapter into your device, place the device on the pad and at some point later, you have a fully-charged portable gadget, ready to go. All well and good, but why does this development make me think standards war? Well, remember the SplashPad? Like the WildCharger, the SplashPad uses a pad, an adapter and the hope of future adoption by gadget manufacturers. WildCharger has a release date (7/7/07) at least, but if the idea takes off, we might well be seeing the beginning of another version of the BluRay versus HD DVD competition.
