As if all the digital-movie-download-services already available on the internet aren't enough, Wal-Mart has decided to follow the trend and create one online movie store themselves. This move makes some sense because they own a big percentage (close to half) of all DVD sales in the United States, but maybe their download system is not the best one.
So, this Wal-Mart system is different from all the rest because they try to take advantage of their retail stores, instead of being able to only buy online and download like it happens on the other services, with Wal-Mart you will have to buy the "physical" DVD itself at their stores and inside there will be a promo code that provides the access to download the specific movie, on a digital format.
There are different options when trying to download the movies which are different in price and quality. For $1.97 you get the movie for portable devices (think mobile phones/smartphones), at $2.97 you will have access to PC and laptop movie versions, and the most expensive one is $3.97 that includes both previously mentioned versions.
Their campaign starts this Tuesday with the "SuperMan Returns" DVD.
