Walkman Bean MP3 Review
Filed in archive Reviews by tiago on November 22, 2005

Back in October when I talked about the Walkman Bean MP3 from Sony, the battery life (50 hours) was something hard to believe, but Cnet confirmed this:
"However, the player more than redeemed itself with its incredible battery life of a bit less than 47 hours. That's not quite the 50 hours Sony promises, but it's outstanding all the same."
The cNet editor rates it 5.7/10, classifying it as an Average MP3 Player. The goods come from the FM reception and good battery life, while the bads come from "Poorly designed USB cover; awkward controls; tiny screen muddles interface; noticeable hiss during playback; music-store support limited to Sony Connect; slow file transfers."
With much more bads than goods, it seems SONY was more worried design-wise than any of the other functions, right?
The file transfer speed should really be improved, transfering files at a 0.61MB per second is absurd. Even more absurd is what they report: "deleting songs from the device seemed to take forever: nearly three minutes to remove just two dozen songs"

PS - A goodie when you purchase the bean
MP3 Player is the coupon that Sony includes with five free tracks to Connect's music store.
