There is such a drive toward putting computers in cars, that it is no wonder that VW has recently unveiled the Space Up, a seven inch touchscreen that has lots and lots of functions. Not only is it a touchscreen, but it also works by gesture based control. Just think of it as an iPhone for the car.

VW plans to put the Space Up! on all their new models by 2009. Man, I can already think of the controversy already. I mean, I can see a place on the Space Up! for videos! Aren't you supposed to be...driving?

However, I can easily see this becoming a new standard. After all, who doesn't want some computer in their car?

Touch screen is the way to go. Audi and Mercedes will replace the audio console with all touch screens in the next few years. Touch screen is not really new, maybe iphone makes it more popular.

Mark, you need to make a slight revision. "Space Up!" is the name of a VW concept car, not the name of the seven-inch touchscreen mounted on the car's dashboard.
