Vuzix iWear VR920

This product looks almost identical to the myvu viewing goggles for the iPod. Vuzix has just released the iWear VR920, a pair of goggles designed for those into PC gaming.

The iWear VR920 comes with VGA progressive scan LCDs with 1024 x 768 resolution, a 32 degree field of view, a built-in VoIP microphone, adjustable headphones, 3-degree field tracker.

Apparently, these goggles can transport you into the 3-D world, and can even toggle from 2-D to 3-D. Man, 3-D gaming, that sounds just cool. Supposedly, it will work for flight simulator X, World of Warcraft, and Bio-Shock. It can supposedly provide a 62-inch virtual screen from 9 feet away, but I've seen the myvu, and the results are not quite impressive.

If you want them, they're available now for $399.95.

I tried this in Vista Ultimate, it does not work. The company’s website support links are a joke. It also did not work in XP with Quake 4. I build computers, so I know enough to say, wait until they “fix” it before buying.

When you deal with the people at vuzix, they treat you like you are an indentured servant to technology, when it comes to contacting them about repairs (that can happen easily because of their fragile components), you are better of finding a third party as they are only interested in selling whatever surplus supply they have invested. Also their English is sub-standard.
