Verizon Wireless Launches Cell Phone Video...2
You know how Verizon Wireless has that whole VCast thing? Watch video stuff on your phone, crap like that? Well, most people don't seem to care, even if they do know about it, because only 7 million of the country's 232 million cell phone users subscribe to the $15/month service. Analysts blame low video quality and Verizon seems to agree, as they're now launching a newer version of the service, developed by Qualcomm, called MediaFlo. MediaFlo, which is an additional $25/month, doubles the picture quality of the videos, has eight 24-hour TV channels and will eventually have a separate network, courtesy of Qualcomm, to keep video transfer from swallowing bandwidth. The first phone to support MediaFlo will be the Samsung SCH-U620 (pictured).

Video on phone is kinda cool, but to be honest, who cares? It seems like a fairly limited selection of content for the price, but more importantly, hasn't the iPod video proven that watching video on a very small screen ain't so hot. I guess we'll see if the service grows as much as Verizon hopes it will.
