USB 2.0 to SATA/IDE Adaptor
Need external storage but don't want to pay the premium on those silly external enclosures (who needs drive protection anyway? Not me)? Do a lot of hard drive testing and want an easier way to switch hard drives in and out of your testing rig? This USB 2.0 to SATA/IDE adaptor might be the way for you to go. Built to accomidate both a SATA and an IDE drive at the same time (so you could really have two external drives if you want), the adapter includes a power pack so you can power up your drives without using a molex or SATA power cable from your case. Plug the other end of the adapter into a USB 2.0 port and voila! a 33.4 MB/Sec transfer rate is now yours. As the review on Atomic points out, though, once you've plugged in your new ghetto external drive be careful with how you handle it - quick movements, a lack of ventilation or any other exposure could easily destroy the drive (see, those external hard drive enclosures really DO have a point to them).
