Transparent LCD Display

Transparent LCD Display

With all the iPhone hype, it is easy for new and advanced technology to swept under the rug on today of all days. Case in point, the transparent LCD display.

Transparent TVs are have always been a vision. I've lost count of how many I have seen in science fiction films such as Minority Report. Active, Inc., the company who developed this transparent LCD display, said that it works with liquid crystal optical film as opposed to traditional LCD backlights.

Who knows when this will hit the market, but I'm not certain if people will want this. I suppose it would be handy to watch TV while driving, but there is no way the law would permit this.

Touch screens, Eye-wear, 3D images, eye-to-eye real-time video conferencing(by being able to place a discrete camera BEHIND the display itself). Think what the video conferencing feature will do to the mobile industry! We’ll have consumers using their 4.5-5″ cell “phones” as massive real-time communicators that “share” the space infront of them. Video calls have been mostly unsuccessful due to the impersonal handicap of not being able to look your party directly in the eyes. As the baby-boomers die, and the newest generations come into market, change will NOT be taboo anymore! The iPhone sells because it’s different. Who is it marketed toward? The newest generations, our future consumers. Just because it works, doesn’t mean it can’t be better. That’s what the whole industrial revolution was all about!
