commercials, where the narrator tells us that when we want to get somewhere, it's TomTom, not DougDoug or SueSue (or EricEric, for that matter) that we should turn to for help. As it turns out, if you've purchased a TomTom 910, you may be getting more than help: a security professional and blogger named Davey Winder over at DaniWeb proved once again why this whole new media thing is so cool by doing the legwork to track down the appearance of multiple "low-level" trojans on brand-new TomTom910 units (which are all Linux-based gadgets). After making enough noise through TomTom PR in the UK and through a post of DaniWeb, he got TomTom to acknowledge the problem on their website, where a short letter states that an "Isololated [sic] number of TomTom GO 910's may be infected with a virus" and advises customers to connect their 910s manufactured between September and November to a PC and do a virus scan to remove the bad files. As Winder points out, however, while TomTom acknowledges the problem, they aren't apologizing for it, either.Via LinuxDevices.com
