ThingM Presents WineM, An Electronic Winerack/Database System

Someday, when I make a pile of money, I'm going to find the final product of ThingM's concept sketch for WineM and put it in my basement along with a whole pile of wine bottles. The concept of an electronic wine rack that tracks all of your bottles in a database so you can find the right bottle quickly and even share your collection online with friends is one of the coolest ideas I've read in a while (take that, iPhone!). Here's why:
- My wife and I love wine. We're not collectors by any sense of the word, but we appreciate the alcoholic version of the fruit of the vine enough to make it the central theme of our wedding. Any cool gadget involving wine is going to get me to sit up and take notice.
- I love organization, databases and categorizing things into neat little piles so they can be found later. It comes to me so naturally that I was surprised when I first learned that not everyone takes the time to organize their CD collection by artist name and release date. The WineM looks like it'll make organization a fairly easy process, which is always a huge plus.
- Social networking with wine? Seeing what bottles other people are using with their food? What a cool idea!

It’s a great idea -unfortunately not original. These guys should have checked out the Automated Wine Cellar invented back in March 2004 – pending patent in the USA. Its even voice controlled.See US Patent Application 20070191983
