The new box brownie?
Filed in archive Cameras by Andrew Garrett on April 5, 2004
An interesting wee piece on the cultural similarities between the moder phone camera, and the aged "Box Brownie" (a Kodak product phenomenon sufficiently far back in time that most of us didn't experience it).

The big thing for me is that with a camera in my phone, I always have a camera on me. I have a couple of other Digital Cameras as well - an aged fuji DX10, and a Philips Key007. The fuji only comes with me when I have too many pockets or a bag, but the Philips is small enough to fit in a pocket. Despite this, it rarely gets used - it fits into the "too much hassle" department - one more thing in my pockets, I don't need (and I'm not enough of a geek to wear it around my neck). My camera phone, however, is pretty much always on my belt. As a result, it now gets used more often, despite the relatively crappy quality.
