The NANA - new Gigabeat MP3 Player
Filed in archive Sound Makers by tiago on June 7, 2006

Does the name Nana sound familiar with any other MP3 player? It's not the male specie of the iPod Nano, but it sure sounds like it.
The NANA is made by Toshiba and is the latest member of the Gigabeat line of MP3 players - it will fit in the P5S series which only has 512MB of storage capacity. What makes it different from the other P5S devices is the theme surrounding it: NANA - Japanese manga.
It will be released during July and available in 4 different colors: red, black, white and purple.
Mysteriously, a new version of the U2 iPod (the iPod video dedicated to the U2 band) was announced by Apple yesterday, and within hours, a new Toshiba MP3 player pops out (the NANA is dedicated to a manga - Japanese comics
).
Coincidence? Or something more? Is Toshiba out there copying names from Apple, or also copying their strategies? The questions remain unanswered.
