At home I have a couple of cables in one extension only - PS2, TV, Sound System, DVD and sometimes the cellphone recharger - and when I need to unplung one of the cables, how do I know which corresponds to which? I don't... can't see where the cables start, and that totally sucks.
What usually happens is unplugging the wrong cable and one of the system turns the light off. If it's the PS2 and I didn't save the game... start all over again. If it's the Sound System while I was listening to something, it ruins the moment...
And that my friends, is why Sternform Produktdesign from Germany came up with the Cable ID:
"Cable ID is a rubberhelix complete with a display for labelling. With the help of Cable ID it is easily possible to identify any cable. Just write a name on Cable ID, then twine it around a cable. For reuse, wipe off the inscription on the display or put it into the dishwasher"
