Mobile Phones
by Mark Rollins on July 14, 2008

"Oh hey, I need to stop by the store to get a BIC. I'm not talking about a pen, shaver, or lighter, but a cell phone."
The BIC phone works out of the box with 60 free minutes, a charged battery, and a SIM card already in place. I believe that you can use this phone just for calling and texting, and possibly FM radio. Rumor has it that it is designed to be disposable, unless you want to register it.
The BIC cellular phone will only be available in Metropolitan France in August 2008, but it will be widely distributed everywhere for about €49.

They should be required to charge a returnable deposit on these (like bottles and cans) to force people to turn them in when finished with them. Otherwise, just more landfill and more energy usage to produce.
