Mobile Phones

Over the past 24 hours or so, the folks at Finding JTAG on the iPhone posted their entire process for making the Apple iPhone work with a non-AT&T SIM card. It involved 10 very scary steps-steps I would be unwilling to take myself if I had an iPhone.
- Take the case off
- Remove the cover off the comm board
- Modify the A17 Trace
- Test to make sure your modification was successful
- Power up the iPhone using your USB cable and get minicom ready to go
- Take a NOR dump of your iPhone
- Wipe the firmware off the iPhone
- Patch the firmware of your iPhone
- Run iUnlocker
- Use minicom to ensure the phone is actually unlocked
They forgot the reassemble the iPhone part. But they sure drank a lot of Red Bull to make this happen. And the unlocked iPhone? Being sold on eBay.
if you had an iPhone, would you go through all this trouble to liberate it from AT&T?
