TDS Recon Rugged PDA Review

Filed in archive Handhelds by Andrew Garrett on April 5, 2004

If you're a lot rougher on your toys than I am, you might appreciate this device.

The TDS Recon Rugged PDA is a fairly standard pocket PC for the most part, but it has a few special features, like:

...the ability to operate in temperatures anywhere between -30 to 60 degrees C, and altitudes of 15,000 feet. To withstand 26 consecutive dropslinks from over four feet, and total immersion in up to one metre of water for up to 30 minutes.

Cute, and I imagine useful for some folk.

I do have one question, however. Why is it that ruggedised or waterprooof devices (like this one) so often come in that eye-gouging shade of yellow?
