Taking an Axe to Your Laptop
You may remember the JamMate UG-1, a USB guitar by ESI Professional I blogged about in late July. Well, it turns out that the JamMate has a less-expensive cousin, manufactured by Behringer: the iAXE393 USB-Guitar (can't any of these manufacturers pick a guitar name that doesn't sound like it should be wielded by Daft Punk in "Robot Rock"?). Like the JamMate, the iAXE393 sports a USB port and a headphone jack and now, according to Harmony Central, it now has a partnership with amplifier modelinglinks software: Native Instruments' Guitar Combos, a lighter version of their massively-awesome Guitar Rig software. Buy the iAXE393 and you get one of the three Guitar Combo models for free, with the option to purchase the additional two for $15 a piece.
