Take Less-Than-Portable Video on the Go
It's a common problem in these days of information overload: you have all this video you'd love to be able to watch, but you just don't have the time to do so. The episodes of last season's hit show moldering on your DVR, the DVD you borrowed from your best friend two months ago, the YouTube clips your brother keeps sending you but you never get to watch…a bunch of great entertainment, waiting for you to have some time to sit and watch.
Well, what if you could watch all of that video off on all of the devices (cell phones, smart phones, portable media players, etc.) that you carry around with you that CAN play video? That's the idea behind the SanDisk V-Mate, a device that takes signals from any composite video device (VCR, DVD player, cable/sattelite box, camcorder, etc.) and stores it (much like a DVR). The one thing that distinguishes the V-mate from your standard DVR is the inclusion of a flash memory slot (compatible with a number of flash memory devices), which allows you to transfer content from the V-Mate to the flash memory card…and from there, watch it on your portable video device. The V-Mate should be hitting the streets in October at an MSRP of $129.99.
