Survey: 1 in 8 Men Would Dump the Girl for the Gadget

In a great example of how Benjamin Disraeli's famous quote about manipulating numbers can be dead-on the mark, Tech Digest has a post stating that a research company called Gfk NOP just released findings of a survey where they found that 13% men said yes, they'd dump their girlfriend/wife for the latest iPod, wide-screen TV, home cinema system or fridge freezer. If that's actually true (and not a result of a cleverly-worded question), it might explain why another (more reputable) survey of census statistics done by the NY Times showed that 51% of women now live without a spouse, either as single women or separated from their husbands. Of course, it might be that Gfk NOP confined their search to a…less attractive area of the male population.
