Here's an interesting concept: take the ReadyBoost idea from Windows Vista and move it to its logical conclusion, with a USB drive that plugs directly into your motherboard, giving you the memory boost without sacrificing a USB port. It's called the
Exelerator and it comes in 1, 2 and 4 GB capacities at $25 for 2 GB. Given the convenience, versatility (they can also be used as internal drives) and low price of these drives, it begs the question of how soon we'll be able to supplement most of a system's RAM with these much cheaper drives.
