StarTech Introduces New 2.5" Drive Enclosure

When it comes to high-volume portable storage, you have two options: you can get a full-featured external hard drive, like the ones made by Seagate and Maxtor, or you can buy a drive enclosure and put your own hard drive inside. Both systems have their advantages; going with one complete solution gives you assured compatibility, one set of warranties and possibly even some extra software, but drive enclosures allow you to pick your drive and switch out an old drive with comparative ease. If you're interested in the second option, StarTech has a new enclosure with some cool features: brushed aluminum casing, push-button transfer (plug in your USB-enabled device, press the button and you're done) and power supplied either by USB or by 4 AA batteries. The enclosure only supports 2.5 inch IDE drives, so it may not be as good an option unless you have a drive available.
