If, like me, you're no longer interested in having a server under your desk, but instead would prefer to avoid permanent hearing loss when you want to listen to some tunes, this article from The Register on how to make a quiet PC might be right up your hearing canal.
Personally, I've got a shuttle case with my name on it for my linux box rebuild - replacing the server monster next to my feet. Really, the 7 fans in it do make a bit of noise, it'll be nice to lower the volume a notch.
