Sony Goes Kiosk

If you're in Atlanta, Georgia; Boulder, Colorado or Santa Rosa, California you'll probably see Sony robotic stores (aka kiosks) coming to a mall near you. The kiosks will vend things like flash memory, cassette tapes, blank CDs and DVDs and MP3 players. Sony is testing out the kiosks, which will only accept credit and debit cards, to see if they'll generate additional sales from impulse buyers, because they're cheaper than setting up a whole store front. If things go well, Sony plans on adding functionality to let users buy Sony mp3s on the spot and add them to their mp3 players by a USB port.
