Sony faces the music - with lawyers

Sony did something really stupid - adding a rootkit to protect DRMs. Duh. These guys are getting desperate!
Now malware writhers have taken advantage of this technology, they're hiding a Trojan horse with this thing. Antivirus firms are also in the game as well as a result. CA's PestPatrol is providing help for this, Symantec/Sophos/F-Secure/Microsoft are also providing their tidbits on this. ouch
.
Cherry on the sundae: lawyers! Yep, in California a suit has been filed and another one is expected in New York.
A few thoughts:
1- Please stop with the witchcraft to protect content, it just doesn't work. Users will find a way to bypass whatever measure by Googling..
2- A new standard needs to be put in place to enforce copyrights, with ALL the industry playes WITH consumer groups involved.
3- How about some reality? Users will always copy stuff - because we've not been education on the value of intellectual property, from kindergarden and up. Education and not falsified facts like the RIAA has been issuing.
4- No more shenanigans like the rootkit - Sony has turned itself into one of the badguys. Ouch - someone will get a pink slip for this!
5- Maybe they should start listening to Apple..
