Sierra Wireless USB Modem Comes to Sprint

There's something I really like about the idea of pulling out the laptop on a train (has to be a train - cars are too cramped and planes have that whole "no cell signal" thing), plugging in a wireless modem and reading some email or surfing the web while you travel through the countryside. I'm not so lucky as to have this situation be a part of my daily commute, but if you are and you're looking for a modem option, you'll soon be able to add the Sierra Wireless AirCard 595U to your list of potentials. The USB-based modem can plug directly into any USB port or attach via an included cradle and supports both Windows and OSX, which is a nice feature if you've got a few different computers you need to connect. The modem supports EV-DO Revision A and HSDPA networks, giving you world-wide data access (with the right network) at speeds of up to 3.1 Mbps and, according to Macworld, will be coming to Spring next month for $49.99 with a two-year agreement.
