SCiB Batteries By Toshiba will Recharge Your World

Have you heard of Toshiba's SCiB prototype batteries? If you haven't, they are set to redefine the way that laptops and other rechargeable gadgets perform. Keep in mind, Toshiba is demoing them as prototypes and they are still a little far off from production, but when they hit, it will be great.
SCiB, or Super Charge Ion Batteries recharge to 90% capacity in 10 minutes and will last longer than traditional lithium-ion batteries. They don't explode when they are crushed or overheat, and they are good for 5,000 – 6,000 recharge cycles. That means they will outlive regular lithium-ion batteries by a at least 4,000 or so cycles.
At the Ceatec electronics exhibition in Chiba, Japan, Toshiba demonstrated a working model of the SCiB, and it did actually perform as promised. At this point, the batteries are expected to hit the market sometime next year.
