Sanyo's Inspection Bot
I suppose there are several uses I can think of for Sanyo's inspection robot, and not one of them is what it was designed for: a way an inspector can get into foundations and crawlspaces for building safety.

The Sanyo Inspection bot uses some serious image processing technology as well as collision avoidance to get around. It has a lithium ion battery that enables it to roam for about 140 minutes.

The price tag might be a little high at $9,000, and it is only available in Japan.
