Green Gadgets
by Chris Matier on February 13, 2009

There have been attempts at green computing and cell phones in the past, but most of them have been absolute wastes of time. samsung's new will have none of that. The Blue Earth Phone is both functional and eco friendly. This touchscreen, solar powered phone has what it takes to complete in a world made of iPhone fans and Palm Pre worshipers, more importantly, it can compete for less energy cost and manufacturing waste.
The Samsung Blue Earth phone has a durable body constructed out of recycled water bottles. The front touch screen is large and crisp which is surprising, because on the back of the phone is a solar panel which promises to be able to power the device. Effectively, a single charge to the battery could last for days due to the passive solar charging. The phone also has a pedometer mode that will encourage you to walk, and while you are walking it will compute your CO2 emissions that you are saving.
Now, I am not exactly a tree-hugger, but I am into saving money on my electricity bill, and if I am looking for a product, I will choose the one that is more environmentally friendly - if it is just as good. The Samsung Blue Earth Phone looks to be like a contender in my book. Look for it during the last half of 2009.
