Samsung Announces 19" USB-Only Monitor
At first I thought that this post on Engadget was talking about another version of wireless USB for monitors, which is so cool that it makes me want to cry. Not quite: instead, it's an interim technology from Samsunglinks, who says (according to DigitalWorld (in French), or PC World (in English)) that they're going to release a 19 inch monitor that connects not by DVI or VGA, but by USB. But with wires. And it's connecting directly into the motherboard, which means (presumably) your fancy video card will be wasted as your processor takes over all display duties. Sure, having three to five monitors taking up your desktop Swordfish-style would be kickin' like chicken, but why would you want to replace wires with more wires, especially if you're just going to have a slower computer? Good idea, Samsung, but it looks like this technology has a bit further to go before it's viable.
