Prostitutes wear platform shoes? Goes to show you how much I know about them.
However you may feel about the world's oldest profession, I think most reasonable people can agree that nobody deserves to be harassed by weirdos and creeps. Unfortunately, prostitutes tend to encounter more weirdos than your average person. It's not like they can carry much to protect themselves, either.
Enter The Aphrodite Project's Platforms. They've embedded, among other things, a GPS, a personal alarm, and a way to alert the authorities of the wearer's location. It's a neat idea, though I have to wonder how one would activate the personal alarm or the alert to the authorities.
