Replace Your iPhone Battery for 75% Less!

One of the major complaints some people have about the Apple iPhone is that the battery is not user serviceable. The process costs $79 plus shipping, not to mention being without your iPhone for several days. Unless, of course, you want to pay an additional $29 for a loaner.

Leave it to Asia to rectify this situation. For $20, plus shipping from Hong Kong, you can get a replacement iPhone battery shipped to you. In addition to the battery, you are given the necessary instructions and tools to pull off this feat that Apple seems to think mere mortals should not do.

The stories I've read suggest the act of taking off the back cover of the iPhone is not for the faint of heart. I'd rather pay Apple to do it right than to try and save a few bucks doing it myself. That and who knows how well the battery might work.

If you replace the battery yourself, will the phone still be covered by the warranty?

You will definitely loose warranty, so this is not recommended

I doubt it. I'm sure you will void your warranty. Of course, by the time you need to do this, the warranty (or even Applecare) should be void anyway.

I wouldn't do that besides I'm using it now and I dont see how the back comes off there is no hole except for simtray and headphones and charge thing plus apple just gives you a brand new phone which is cool

I don't know that'd I personally change my iPhone battery. I'd rather leave it to the elves at Apple.
