Cameras
by Andrew Garrett on March 15, 2004
A very valid point from TechDirt.
If taking a photo is against laws/rules/regulations/common decency, then taking a photo is the crime - not using a camera phone.
My phone is a camera phone - but if I take it out in the changing room at the gym for the purpose of receiving a call, I'm doing nothing wrong. When I'm not on a call, it stays in the stylish little belt pouch I have for it.
Of course, if I want to take photos of naked men, I can do so with the camera phone - but really, it's pretty obvious what I'm doing - just the same as it would be with a normal camera (albeit with more blurriness, and a lower resolution). If I'm caught doing so, whether it be using a camera phone or a dedicated camera, the 'crime' is still the same.
