Vocera has a cool new hands-free wireless platform that provides voice communications. The system rather reminds me of the star Trek communicator used in the Star Trek: The Next Generation series. I can just hear the geeks at the hospital now "Number 1, I'm going number 2, Picard out". The communicators work with any 802.11b wireless networked building or campus and the badge itself weighs less than two ounces. A LCD screen on the back also allows text messages to be sent when voice conversations are not appropriate.
