Portable Spyware Scanner, Go!

The more I read about this whole U3 thing, the more I think I need to get a U3-enabled USB drive for myself. The idea is simple: with all of the free space on these new massive-capacity flash drives, why not make the drive capable of running specially-written pieces of software whenever it's plugged into a computer? Need to unRAR a file and the host computer doesn't have the necessary application? Put it on your U3 drive. Need to have access to your bookmarks and email no matter where you are? There's a utility for that, too. And it's not just utilities, either: there are games, music players, browsers…and a spyware scanning application called XSOFTspy, which is the most recent U3 application to catch my eye. Worried about working on that sensitive document on a computer whose owner might be less than diligent about cleaning up keyloggers, trojans and spyware? Load up the $14.95 application from your U3 drive, have it scan the hard drive on the host computer and you're good to go. Very cool stuff.

Im an onsite technician and about half the calls we get are to clear out spyware. I have tried to use this on at least a dozen machines, and so far it was failed to launch on about half of them. It either says it cannot load the database or just hangs. I just put SWS&D folder and run that instead.

It sounds interesting but I usually prefer to trust my own computer whenever I have to work with a sensitive document. Call me old fashion but U3 will have to prove it’s impeccable to make me trust it.
