PlugLock Puts Wall Warts In Their Place

With a name like "Wall Warts", you know the device is not popular. The fact is that "Wall Warts", or the large transformers on many power supplies, are a royal pain. They are often too large for standard plugs, they crowd out normal power strips, and when they do fit, their weight often causes them to fall out of their plugs. Man, do they suck. PlugLock has created a simple and smart solution that will keep large transformers in check while also keeping your gadgets protected.

The PlugLock power strip is a simple design. Plugs are spaced neatly and evenly in order to accommodate the bulky transformers. There is also a steel bracket that adjusts to lock in the transformer so that it will not fall out. The design is brilliant. The device is rated for 15 Amps and 120 volts and includes a circuit breaker to keep things safe. The entire unit is solid steel, and the power cord is a generous 5 feet long and rated at 14 AWG.

The device is $45, which is on the upper end of power-strip prices. The solid construction and steel clamps are certainly value-added, but I would love to see smart power management added to the device. If it automatically killed vampire power drains and held "Wall Warts" in place, then it would be the perfect surge protector.
