Phones that can use both Wi-Fi, cellular networks on horizon

Convergence devices. Great buzzword.

That's what we're talking about here, and it's only the start of something that, when we finally get it, will change the shape of our digital lives.

I want my phone and my cellphone in one unit. I want it to know about my free minutes, and know which way it's cheaper for me to make a Calllinks, and to make it the best way. I want to be able to train it to understand *my* best way. I want to be able to have more than one account on a phone, and to be able to call out using different accounts - one account for me, one account for my business, one account for my employer. I want the numbers I call to be set in groups, so when I call anyone from group A, it automatically goes out on account B by default. I want calls made when I'm within range of a landline base station to be made on the landline by default - unless it's cheaper for me to call using the cell for some reason.

I want my wireless headset for my phone to be stereo, and to also take input from my music player - but to pause the music player when a call comes in, so I can answer it - no hassle, no fuss. I want GPS built in, so I can track where I was when a call came in. I want all the times on all my devices sychronised, so I can take a photo, and it's tagged with a location. I want this stored, as meta-data, with the photo, and sychronised with my PDA (which, in theory, knows where I was supposed to be, and what I was supposed to be doing there.).

This is next 5-10 years stuff - this is not strange off the wall sci-fi, never happen in our lifetime pipe-dreams, this is reality, 5 minutes from now, blinks, and you haven't missed it, it's just there and you didn't notice it arrive.

Who's pushing that envelope? Anyone?
