Philips and Energizer to Launch AAA-Battery-Powered Phone
According to BetaNews, Philips and Energizer will be launching a phone based on the same technology as Energizer's Energi To Go. Basically, the Xenium NRG uses a regular cell phone battery for its standard charge and goes to the AAA battery as a backup. It supports rechargeable batteries, too, so you can charge both batteries when you plug in the phone. No word on how long the backup battery will keep the phone running, or whether or not the phone lets you know when you've switched to backup power, but I'm guessing you only get another few minutes of charge, or the phone would be AAA-powered only.
