Phantom Games Receiver Dies Before it Lives

Many of you may not be familiar with Infinium Labs or Phantom Entertainment as they are now known. Then Infinium announced in 2003 that they were launching a hardware box that would be used to received games over the Internet. Here we are some three years and numerous missed launch dates later, and Infinium, now Phantom Entertainment, is throwing in the towel on their hardware box.

They are now talking the Phantom up as a PC client software that runs on a Windows XP or Media Center Edition PC. Rumor has it that Phantom is in talks with PC manufacturers to license the service for sale on new systems. The new not so phantomy Phantom is set to launch at the Leipziglinks Games Convention next week. I wonder if they will hit this launch date?
