Pew Survey Finds New Divisions in Gadget Users

TIME.com published an article earlier today detailing the results of a survey by the Pew Internet and American Life Project, which found that technology users are divided into a few more groups than previously suspected. The study of 4,001 US adults found that, among other things, 25 percent of all elite technology users (who are 31 percent of the population) are bored veterans stuck with decade-old technology and disillusioned by the march of gadgetry progress. What makes this group interesting, the article goes on to mention, is that such a large group of users represents a huge opportunity for any company that can find a way to market products that will catch this group's eye and dollar. What that means in practical terms is anyone's guess, but if we start seeing more paradigm-breaking gadgets coming down the pipe in the near-ish future, I won't be surprised.
