Pay by Phone Coming to the US!

Woohoo! finally the good 'ol USA gets some of the cool tech from our Asian friends. No longer will we have to bum nickels and dimes off people at work we would really rather not talk to. Soon we can just use our trusty cell phone to pay for the drinks and snacks at the vending machines. The specifications were introduced Monday by the NFC Forum, an industry association. The initial specs will be available between July and September and will include specs for modular NFC device and protocols for interoperable data exchange.
Making the technology even cooler is the idea that NFC will be able to make movie posters
interactive to anyone with a NFC-enabled smart phone. When you are at the movies you would be able to download ring tones, music and more goodies from the flick the poster is related to right there on the spot, as well as buy your tickets. The downside to the technology is that it would give losers more of a reason to bring their phones to the theater, only to ring during the most important part of the movie.
