Office Tower Claims to be World's Largest Gadget
According to this article in Gulfnews.com, a British company is building the first of a series of 23 towers in the city of Dubai, a place already so well-known for its large buildings that there's a whole website dedicated to detailing their grandeur. These towers, which developers Dubai Property Ring are planning to build in 23 time zones across the world, are unique for two reasons: first, they're covered by solar panels, which power motors that slowly rotate the tower, a world's first both for full building rotation and for the power source. Second, the designers set up the grounds of tower to function as a giant clock face, making each tower one of the world's largest clocks. The Time residencelinks (as the towers are called) in Dubai will open next year; no word yet on how much the one- and two-bedroom units will cost.
