Nothing Says I Love Media Like the Sony Ericsson Idou

Wow, the new headsets are flying out of the woodwork over at the WMC (Mobile World Conference), and this week I will cover some of the cellular handsets that are sure to make a splash in the upcoming year. With so much new and exciting technology, it is hard to release a product that will stand-out. sony Ericsson has managed to shine with the announcement of the Idou (name will change… they promise) a touch screen phone that features a 12.1 Megapixel camera and advanced photo software. This phone will definitely blur the lines between cell phone and high-end camera.
In addition to the insane camera, the Idou sports a 16:9, 3.5 inch touch screen with flick gesture support, full walkman software support, game support (although no specific platform was mentioned), and support for the DNLA networking standard. DNLA should allow the Idou to network seamlessly with the PS3, PSP, a PC, or many of the popular set-top media devices. It looks like Sony Ericsson is trying to design a portable home media player/phone hybrid in the Idou.
Release dates, spec specifics, and a better name should all be announced soon because the phone is set to hit the store shelves in the second half of 2009.
