Nokia N90 review - P1

Do you feel connected?
After a turbulent weekend seeing happy dogs and other goodies that come along with them, I finally have time to review the Nokia N90. The package came by UPS and arrived on Sunday, but I didn't touch it until Saturday, too afraid to brake
it into pieces. (just kidding, I was hitting the bars that night so I left it charging)
I passed some time with it, four days or so and there are a few things I can mention: (personal opinions)
- It's a "tiny bit too big" to carry around, but it isn't one of those big cellphones that look bad, the design of the N90 looks very good and the features included make up for the size
- The camera is pretty good, both photos and videos are top quality for a cellphone with a 2 Megapixel camera. The N90 European Media Phone of the Year award by EISA (European Imaging and Sound Association) was well given. I will post the photos later and compare with a Motorolla that has a 1.3MP camera (it's the other only phone I have available) to check the difference.
- Take note: usage of the media features with internal-memory makes the browsing threw the gallery a bit slow, that is, after having more then 15/20 photos and a few videos. I haven't used the 64MB memory card yet, but I'll have to try it soon and see how it goes.
- Saundersblog.com says: "make sure that you record the video to the MMC card, and not to the (very slow) internal memory on the telephone. Recordings made to the phone memory tend to lose synchronization between video and audio" but I couldn't, and still can't confirm this after watching the videos I recorded.
- It doesn't vibrate, this is a big no... How could they forget something basic like the this? I'll rant about it later too
- At atmasphere.net it seems the cellphone is giving some trouble when playing videos: "The N90 is repeatedly having issues playing back video I capture due to a low memory error. I think this is due to applications running in the background, but for the life of me can't quite figure it out yet." Let me tell you that I don't have this problem, maybe because there weren't any background applications for me.
- Didn't make any calls yet (no money in the card, life is
a bitchtough...) but I received some calls and the sound is great, very smooth.
- The large LCD screen is great, and it isn't suppose to scratch unlike the screen on the front.
There are so many things to write about the N90 that I will stop by here, and divide the review in parts. The "P1" in the title stands for Part 1.
It began here, and the next step is to show you what came inside the package (no mocking like the xbox 360). I don't know if the unit I received will be the same you'll get, so don't trust everything you see here.
I got to thank the company Comunicano for the invitation to become a part of the Nokia Nseries blogger program, and more specifically Andy Abramson and Brooke Davidson for quick and good feedback, and for solving a stupid UPS mistake.

What a nice move from Nokia to promote their products via bloggers
