A new project that will soon begin will test the limits of what technology should be allowed to DO. In Japan, The New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization will be developing and testing automatic driving protocols and technologies later this year.
Specifically, NEDO will be working with technology that will automatically control your vehicles speed, distance, and driving formation in relation to other vehicles with hopes of increasing energy conservation and safety. The project will focus on five robotic car technologies:

  • Driving Control Technology

  • Driving Environment Recognition Technology

  • Position Recognition Technology

  • Vehicle-to-Vehicle Communication Technology

  • Energy-Saving Driving Control Technology

  • Personally, I am not big on the idea of my car taking over for me. What if it drives as bad as I do? What happens when the big car robot neural net decides to go down. There are some technologies that are better left manual.
