Basically, a more budget oriented D70. Not a bad move, and could make nice inroads into Canon's lower end market.

Now, I realise that this is supposed to be an entry level camera - but did they have to make it so ugly? Silver? Please, that's hideous, and makes it look cheap and nasty. OK, so maybe that's a fake picture, and Nikon will do the right thing with a black body. Let's live in hope that they can differentiate on substance rather than style.
