Nikko R2-D2 Audio and Video Projector

Nikko R2-D2 Audio and Video Projector

I finally got the chance to see Nikko's now-famous R2-D2 Digital Audio and Video Projector. I had to admit, I was pretty impressed with the DLP resolution, and its ability to create a 260" picture. I never did see its maximum projection, but it cannot project a hologram of Princess Leia calling for Obi-Wan, though.

Still, it has a CD/DVD Player in the area where the Leia stuck in the plans to the Death Star. There was also an impressive fold-out area to plug in an iPod which you have to see for yourself.

Perhaps the coolest feature of all is the remote control, which is shaped like the Millennium Falcon. It is a universal remote for the R2 unit which even controls how it moves. Yes, it does go forward, reverse, and can even recline. The remote also has some Star Wars sound effects built right in.

This product has been delayed for a very long time due to licensing problems. It should be out soon, and I believe the price quoted to me was over $2000.
